Jan/Feb/March 2025

2025 is off to a super busy start, so busy that I intended to get back to monthly blog updates but the first 3 months flew by so fast I’m just getting to it now. Despite being busy, you can always submit your EP/album mastering project HERE, or your single song mastering project HERE.

Not too much has changed around here. It’s been the usual mix of mastering great new albums, singles (lots of singles), as well as some great remastering projects too. Some of those projects are already announced and I can mention them below but many of them are still unable to be discussed.

On the equipment side of things, I recently added a Lavry SAVITR analog-to-digital converter for another great option to capture the analog processing chain.

Back in 2023 I mastered the new Ed Stasium mix of The Replacements “Tim” album, as well as doing a new remaster of the original mix, and mastering/remastering a bunch of bonus tracks for the “Let It Bleed” edition which received many great reviews. RHINO Records apparently sold out of that boxed set so in a rare move, they are doing a 2xLP breakout of this boxed set for Record Store Day 2025. It’s limited to 6000 copies and you can read more about it HERE.

Recess Records started shipping a deluxe version of “My Brain Hurts” by Screeching Weasel which similar to The Replacements “Tim’ project, features a new remix of the album on LP1 and a remaster of the original mix on LP2. The new mix was of course done by Mike Kennerty (of The All-American Rejects) and both versions are available on streaming as well. The first vinyl pressing sold out immediately but watch the Recess Records and Screeching Weasel web-stores as new versions become available.

Interscope Records announced and released a new pressing of the classic Empire Records soundtrack on 2xLP that was remastered here. You can find it HERE.

Interscope Records also released a newly remastered version of “Blind” by The Sundays that was remastered here. Aside from a some isolated concerns about surface noise due to the colored vinyl, reviews have been overwhelmingly positive about the remaster itself. You can purchase a copy HERE.

I had the distinct honor of remastering the 1994 “Hospital” album by Gary Young as well as a number of bonus tracks to create the new “Hospital For The Chemically Insane” release by Gary Young’s Hospital. For now it’s not available on streaming and is only available on Bandcamp both digitally, and on CD. You can find it HERE.

Last year I remastered the original mix of the “Grow Up” album by The Queers. The original stereo mix tape was thought to be lost but Joe King found it, had it digitized, and it was remastered here. It’s available on streaming and on vinyl from Asian Man Records HERE.

That’s a lot of remastering talk. There have also been a ton of new releases from many bands/artists and the best place to keep up with all that is via Instagram stories and other social media accounts. That said, Transviolet, Garrett T. Capps, Justin Wells, Brett Newski, Brad Sucks, and Tony Catania were a few notable new albums mastered here that came out in this first quarter of 2025.

Back in February I made a 3rd appearance on my absolute favorite podcast called Working Class Audio. You can find it on your podcast app of choice, or watch the video version here:

Along with the podcast, I also filmed a DIY iPhone video tour which you can watch here:

I think that’s all for now. I’ll try to get back to monthly or bi-monthly updates moving forward.

Thanks for reading.
